On the search for Australia’s No.1 Club Golfer

Australian Golf Digest is on the hunt to uncover Australia’s No.1 club golfer. Order of Merit’s are a popular feature of Professional Golf Tours around the world, and now with the launch of the Australian Golf Digest Order of Merit we are giving amateur golfers across Australia the chance to compete for the prestigious title of Australia’s No.1 club golfer.

As a nation of passionate golfers, many of us hit the course every week in pursuit of bragging rights as we go head to head with other friends and foes in our local club comp. But imagine being able to say that you’re not only the best golfer at your club, but the No.1 club golfer in Australia!

Well that’s what we aim to find out through the Australian Golf Digest Order of Merit.

So, how does it work?

SPRING

1st September, 2020 –
30th November, 2020

As amateurs we never really know what’s going to happen when we step up to the 1st. Some days are great and other days you wonder why we persist in playing the game. The Australian Golf Digest Order of Merit lets you focus on your great and good days and forget about the bad ones.

 For just $5 a month, we take your best five competition rounds as recorded on GolfLink in each series to create your ranking in the Order of Merit Leaderboard which is updated daily. So the good news is all you need to do is concentrate on playing your best golf and we do the rest and it doesn’t matter whether you play five or 105 rounds in that quarter, we will automatically calculate your best 5 rounds.

To be part of this fantastic competition, you must have a current, registered Golf Australia handicap and pay your monthly registration fee for the entire quarter or the entire year if you want to participate in the overall competition. To make it fair participants are split into six grades based on their official Golf Australia handicap and compete within six regions.

You’ll compete in one of six handicap grades:

C GRADE

Male: 19.1+
Female: 27.1+

Against fellow golfers across your Region:

VIC

TAS

The individual leading their grade within their region at the end of each series will qualify for the national final to be held at a top 100 Golf Course where they compete against other national finalists to secure the ultimate bragging rights of Australia’s No.1 Club Golfer.

At the final, you will compete against other qualifiers from across the country to win the title of Best Club Golfer for that grade for that quarter. With 36 guaranteed qualifiers each quarter there are plenty of chances to win. And with the winners featuring in Australian Golf Digest Magazine (how that’s for bragging rights!) this is a great competition to be a part of!

But wait – there’s more! Each month we will be giving away some great prizes thanks to our partners for just being a part of the series – and it doesn’t matter how good or bad you’ve played; everyone has the same chance.

Payments:

You can join a season on any day of the month that preceeds the start of a season and also within the first two months of a season that is live. Entry into a season is not possible in the third or final month of a season, but you will be able to register for the next season that will launch the following month. For example if you join in February your first season in the competition will be Autumn and  your payments will reflect this. To make it easy once you have joined the Australian Golf Digest Order of Merit you will  automatically be entered into all future series and be billed $5 a month unless you contact us to cancel your participation.

Third month of the season

November 2020

These months will be charged $0 on the day of sign up and will be entered into the next season of the competition. Then recurring $5 billed on the 1st of each month, unless you contact us to cancel your participation.

Will you be crowned by Australian Golf Digest as the Number 1 Club Golfer in Australia?

 To add even more spice to the mix, compete in all 4 quarterly competitions and you are in the running to be announced as the Australian Club Golfer of the Year – 2020. If you register and compete across all four series (Summer | Autumn | Winter | Spring), we will take your best 10 Order of Merit round points scores – and determine the overall winners by Grade and Gender / Sex. Will you be crowned by Australian Golf Digest as the Number 1 Club Golfer in Australia?

How are Order of Merit Points earned?

Order of Merit points are earned based on your score compared to the rest of the field in the competition on that day. Naturally the better you score the better the result, but its not only your score that counts – its how well you score against the rest of the field. Have a great day along with everyone else and you won’t score as well as having a good day while everyone struggles. Head on over to our FAQ to find out more.

You can view all your scores (and your fellow competitors) via the leaderboard updated daily via Golf Link – what a great way to have a bit of fun with your mates wherever they may be!
